A report from the state Department of Human Services recommends an overhaul of the mental health system, moving to regional service delivery groups plus new crisis intervention programs. According to the Des Moines Register, agency chief Chuck Palmer says the county based system being used now doesn't work. The next month and a half staff will be working up plans to hand lawmakers for switching to the regional approach.
