Des Moines Water Works Eyes Rate Increase

Des Moines Water Works customers can expect higher water bills in 2012. The Water Works board is voting today on a rate increase that would generate nearly a half a million dollars in new revenue. The new money would offset an increase in operating, maintenance, and capital expenses for the utility. If approved, the new rates would take place on April first of next year. The increase would be between 1 and 10 percent, with Warren County and Pleasant Hill being hit the hardest.
