There'll be two debates this week for the candidates running in the Nov. 8th special election to fill the state senate seat of Swati Danekar, who stepped down when Gov. Branstad named him to the state Utilities Board. The Des Moines Register reports the candidates are democrat Liz Mathis and republican Cindy Goulding. The first debate's 7-to-8p.m. Wednesday at the Linn-Mar High School Auditorium in Marion. The 2nd is Thursday at 7 at the Kirkwood Training and Outreach Center, also in Marion.
