A new study names Des Moines as a top 50 city for hospital care and recognizes Mercy Medical Center. The Healthgrades study focused on the quality of outcomes for 26 medical procedures at the nation’s nearly 5,000 hospitals. Researchers compared patient death and complication rates, which were adjusted for risk factors of patients the hospitals served. Des Moines was ranked 38th in the study, with Mercy being recognized for clinical excellence.
