Branstad Objects to Electrical Work Inspections for Farmers

Gov. Branstad's signed an objection to a 2008 rule requiring farmers to have safety inspections after having electrical work done on their property. Branstad says it's a power grab by the electrical examining board, and hurts farmers with a cost averaging $500. The Des Moines Register reports the inspection price is on a sliding scale and many inspections cost less than that. Branstad's action will make it easier for farmers to challenge the rule in court.
