The 14.3 million dollar Hot Lotto claim has been withdrawn. The Des Moines Register reports that Crawford Shaw "abruptly" withdrew the claim last night. Shaw said he doesn't even know who is behind Hexam Investments Trust, which is the group claiming to have the ticket. It is curious, though that Hexam even said they'd donate the proceeds of the winnings -- the amount after taxes to Iowa charities. So while lottery officials said they would have liked to pay the prize, they can't, since there's now no one to pay.
