New Flood Sensors

Iowa's Flood Center has doubled the number of flood sensors statewide. KCCI reports the agencies online database gets information from 100 sensors, giving officials real-time monitoring of water levels in the state's rivers and streams. Those sensors use sonar to determine how fast water levels are rising. The U.S. Geological Survey also has over 150 gauges providing similar information from around the state.
