You have a new travel choice to and from Des Moines Airport. Southwest Airlines is taking over AirTran Airways operations here and at 21 other domestic and international airports. The changeover will be gradual, and Southwest officials haven't set a date for the switch here. KCCI reports Southwest has a long reputation of bringing lower fares to airports where it operates. At some airports fares have dropped by up to 45% after they've entered the market.
