Lawmakers Send Bill to Gov. Raising Vet Tuition Funding

The House has sent Gov. Branstad a measure raising spending on tuition assistance for deployed vets who want to attend public Iowa colleges. KCCI reports a big Iowa National Guard troop deployment's raised demand for the program, forcing officials to cut funding from 90% of tuition to 50%. The bill passed today comes up with $1.3-million to keep the 90% tuition cost coverage. The governor hasn't decided if he'll sign it into law.
