Lawmakers Keeping Fuel Tax Hike Plan Alive

The Governor may not like it, but state lawmakers say they're pressing ahead with a plan to raise the fuel tax. The Des Moines Register reports the chairs of the house and senate transportation committees want an 8-to-10-cent fuel tax hike to cover $215-million in road and bridge work. Gov. Branstad repeated his opposition to the hike today, but the lawmakers say unless leadership tells them to back off, they're moving ahead.
