The Iowa Green Veterans AmeriCorps program's been cited by the White House as one of the successes in helping veterans nationwide. Iowa DNR tells KCCI they connect vets with real opportunities in green jobs and the natural resources field through work like helping rural, low-income and elderly residents identify and implement energy improvements, help with disaster recovery, and protect state parks. There are 10-vets working full-time in the program here and in Cedar Rapids.
