Lawmakers Moving to Boost Tuition Funding for National Guard

Iowa's Senate has said yes to $1.3-million more in financial aid for Iowa National Guard members who attend Iowa colleges and universities. According to the Des Moines Register, there's a serious funding problem with thousands of troops back from Iraq and Afghanistan and returning to school. The Guard had planned to cut financial aid from 90% of tuition to 50% because of the jump. The house is expected to approve the funding hike as well.
