No "Blue Alert" for Iowa

A plan to create a “Blue Alert” system in Iowa's been killed by a State Senate Judiciary SubCommittee. "Blue Alert" would've been used to help speed the arrest of violent offenders who've wounded or killed a law enforcement officer. State Sen. Robert Hogg of Cedar Rapids, says the Governor already has the power to create an alert with an executive order, and he says public safety officials have told him there are times when they prefer not to issue a public alert.
