Pioneer Bringing New Corn Variety to Market

Pioneer Hi-Bred's coming out with a new corn variety that's more drought resistant. Published reports say the seeds, called Optimum AQUAmax, should boost yields by 5% when there's limited water. It was created with conventional breeding, so it won't need government approval. Pioneer, based in Johnston, is part of DuPont, which is in a race with other seed companies to get products to market that can grow in drier and low water environments.
