A state house transportation subcommittee has approved and sent to the full panel a bill banning automated red light and speed cameras. KCCI reports Des Moines and Cedar Rapids are on the list of cities using the cameras, and officials from those communities told committee members they have data showing their use cuts down on the number and severity of accidents. A committee member says the cameras may violate civil liberties.
