Blood Donations Needed

The winter weather is also taking a toll on the nation's blood supply. Many blood banks are reporting serious shortfalls in donations. The American Red Cross says its national blood supply is at its lowest level for January in 10 years. Here in the metro, the Blood Center of Iowa is running critically low on two blood types and urges volunteers to come in and roll up their sleeves. Those are O-negative and B-positive. Donors agree it's important to act now to avoid critical shortages in future emergencies.
