A state audit's turned up almost $120-grand in improper spending and deposits in Adair. It includes $39,000 in improper payroll checks to former city clerk Linda Nichols and her son Terry who was an on-call employee for the city. The audit's now in the hands of the Adair County attorney's office, the Iowa attorney general's office as well as state and federal investigators.
