Iowa Mental Health Reform

An attempt to reform Iowa’s $1.3 billion mental health service programs would be delayed for 7-months while the issue gets a detailed review under proposals now in the house and senate. put before the house. Members of both parties say parts of the system haven't worked for years, with some residents, especially in rural areas, not getting the same level of care or options available residenrts in urban areas. Each chamber now has proposals to have the state take over running mental health programs as of July 1st 2013.
