One person is dead after a car crashed into a home just south of downtown early yesterday. Police said the driver, Joanna Chester of Des Moines, was dead when they arrived at around 12:30 a.m. Her passenger, Jerry Hereford, 33, was taken to Methodist Medical Center and was in stable condition late yesterday. No one was inside the house. Neighbors told KCCI that a family was in the process of moving in and was not yet living there. An autopsy will determine whether Cester died before the crash or as a result of her injuries.
