Des Moines Airport to improve runway

The Des Moines International Airport will get $1.9 million to rehab its runway. The funds will come from the U.S. Department of Transportation and are intended to increase safety. The project is also expected to increase efficiency at the airport and improve economic development opportunities for surrounding communities. This announcement comes after last week's news that the airport will receive $2.3 million to buy land and develop a new runway that has been part of the airport's plan since 2001.
