The Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority's been recognized with a national awarded as an industry leader in boosting bus safety. The American Public Transportation Association presented DART with its' “Gold Award” in the safety for mid-sized transit agencies. DART’s accident frequency rate has improved from 3.47 accidents/100,000 miles driven in 2007, to 1.02/100,000 miles driven in the current budget year.
