Gov. Branstad wants to tie teacher salary to performance in the classroom. Branstad and State Education Chief Jason Glass say they want a system where teachers are also ranked from apprentice to master, with those at the master level given the chance to be mentors to their colleagues. KCCI reports they also want to raise teacher start pay to attract better candidates into education.
