Where Will Money For Ed Reforms Come From?

We don't have specifics on how lawmakers will pay for Gov. Branstad's education reform plans, but the Des Moines Register reports there are hints that money set aside for other purposes, may be tapped to pay for the reforms. Using money from the sales tax for schools to pay for proposed reforms would receive stiff opposition from Iowa lawmakers from both parties as well as from local school officials. That tax raises around $380 million a year.
