Police said they wanted to know what killed a woman found dead in her apartment this week, and now they know: smoke. 55 year old Debra Dillard's family had asked Des Moines police to check on her, and they found her dead inside a burned apartment. They said the fire was an accident and that Dillard died of smoke inhalation. Now investigators will try to find out how the fire started.
