While supporters say it hasn't got a chance of passing, a state senate committee's passed a bill raising the state's minimum wage to $10/hour. KCCI reports right now, it's $7.25/hour. House Speaker Kraig Paulsen says he won't even allow the bill to come up debate in the house. He and others say a higher minimum wage hurts employers and he wants to help them create jobs. A $10/hour wage translates to $20,000/year.
