What if somebody took a poll and nobody answered? Not the case here. The majority of people in the Des Moines Register's latest Iowa Poll said they don't want the tax on a gallon of gasoline boosted by two cents. State officials say that tax increase would go toward road and bridge repair. When the newspaper asked readers to answer the poll, 68 percent said no to the tax, 31 percent said yes.
