Lawmakers Have Deal to Boost Prison Spending

State lawmakers say they're got a deal on raising spending for the state's prison system this year. to avoid laying off corrections officers. The deal calls for spending $7.5-million more. KCCI reports the Corrections Department says it needed the extra money due to a contract with state labor unions approved by former Gov. Chet Culver that raises costs.
