Iowa's Big Cities Have Big Economic Impact on State

A new study from an Iowa State University Economist says the state's 10--largest cities may represent only 29% of the population, but they generate 36% of the jobs statewide, and 39% of the state's gross domestic product. They also provide 42% of the service sector jobs and 47$ of sales. The study, released by the Metro Coalition says Iowa's cities overall economic impact is far greater than its demographics. The coalition includes Des Moines, West Des Moines, and Cedar Rapids.
