Fire Department will have Medical Staff on Hand Soon

The Polk City Fire Department is going to be staffed with emergency medical professionals, starting this fall. City Council members unanimously approved the move, this week. Fire Chief Jason Morse says about three fourths of all calls have a medical component. So, for the first time, members of the department are going to be paid to be at the station, from 6am to 6pm, Monday through Friday. Members of the department are volunteer and on-call status, paid per incident, but this will allow for much better response times.
