Air Force leaders are recommending pulling the F-16 fighter jets from a Des Moines Air National Guard base next year. An Air Force memo obtained by the Des Moines Register says 21 jets would be taken away in fiscal year 2013. The planes are part of the 132nd Air Guard fighter wing. The recommended cuts would be part of a plan to trim $8.7 billion from the Air Force budget.
