Anti-Smokers Worried

Non-smoking supporters say they're not sure the state's still interesting in helping people quit smoking. Bonnie Mapes, long-time director of the Division of Tobacco Use Prevention and Control, has been let go. The Des Moines Register reports a letter from State Senator Herman Quirmbach says Public Health Director Mariannette Miller-Meeks wants to get rid of the Tobacco Use Prevention and Control Commission, and has no interest in a tobacco control policy.
