Iowa's State Judicial Nominating Commission is scheduled to begin interviewing the first of 25 applicants for a vacant spot on the Iowa Court of Appeals at 1 p.m. today. Four sitting judges and eight women are among the applicants. Interviews end Tuesday and then the commission will begin deliberations immediately. They'll select three finalists. Governor Branstad will then have 30 days to pick the person to fill the vacancy.
