Hardiman Enters Alford Plea for Involuntary Manslaughter

An 18-year-old Cedar Rapids man isn't pleading guilty, but agrees there's enough evidence to convict him. That's why Ramius Hardiman entered and Alford plea to an involuntary manslaughter charge yesterday in Linn County. The charge is in connection with the crash last November that killed 17 year old Jose Mendoza and in which Hardiman was allegedly driving drunk. Hardiman could get as much as five years in prison for the involuntary manslaughter charge, but the prosecution says it will ask for probation at sentencing. Its not known when that will happen.
