The Des Moines bomb squad blew up a suspicious device this afternoon in the 3300 block of East Payton Avenue near Easter Lake. Authorities were alerted by a report of the device on the roadway. A KCCI viewer reports she was blocked from entering the area because a pipe bomb had been found under a bridge. The same viewer says there were some homes evacuated close to the scene.
