Not everyone is excited about the opening of the Iowa State Fair. Residents who live near the fairgrounds remember violence and last year’s fights at the Quick Trip. Despite added security, this year, there are rumors that some people are planning to bring guns into the fair to protect themselves, that there will be more brawls at night. Police are reminding all residents that guns are illegal on the fairgrounds, even if the owner has a permit.
