State Senate Agrees to More Corrections Money

The Iowa Senate's passed and sent to the house a bill giving the Corrections Department an extra $8.5-million in the current budget year, most of it will pay for staff. KCCI reports department officials told lawmakers the extra money's needed to make sue the appropriate staffing levels can be maintained. Iowa has nine prisons and eight community-based corrections district departments. The extra cash brings the department budget to $352-million.
